Le Goûter by Gooseberry
French Afternoon Tea in Bingin, Uluwatu
A three-tiered stand of savoury bites and French pâtisserie, handcrafted each day in L’Atelier.
Le Goûter
An afternoon in the French tradition
In France, le goûter is the pause of the afternoon: something sweet, something savoury and a pot of tea. At Gooseberry we serve it as a French afternoon tea on a three-tiered stand, on our garden terrace beside the pool or in the air-conditioned dining room, a few minutes from Bingin Beach in Uluwatu.
Everything on the stand is made by hand in L’Atelier, our pâtisserie atelier at Gooseberry, where our Chef Pâtissière bakes from scratch each day. The savoury tier brings duck rillettes, egg mimosa, smoked salmon and blue crab, a herb ricotta gougère and a leek and Emmental quiche. Above it sit a lemon meringue tartlet, a fruit tartlet, a Chantilly cream puff, a madeleine and a canelé.
The tea comes from Dammann Frères, the Paris tea house founded in 1692: Earl Grey, Sencha, Rooibos or Peppermint, or coffee if you prefer. Add a glass of Prosecco, a French 75 or a Kir Royal to make an occasion of it.
Our French Afternoon Tea is served from Friday to Sunday, from 2 pm to 4:30 pm, by reservation only, so that every stand is prepared fresh for your table.
